United Landscapes: Evolving a Legacy Brand
* OPENING SNAPSHOT
For more than 35 years, United Landscapes has shaped the outdoor environments of Kelowna and the Okanagan Valley. With deep community roots and a reputation as a trusted institution, the company didn’t need reinvention — it needed evolution. Our task was to refine their voice, modernize their presence, and build the tools that would carry their reputation forward without losing sight of their legacy.
* THE CHALLENGE
United Landscapes faced a unique branding dilemma. Their history in the community gave them undeniable authority, but their digital and visual presence no longer reflected the scale of their growth. The website was dated, forms were inefficient, and their logo hadn’t evolved alongside the company. Yet a full rebrand risked alienating a loyal client base that had trusted them for decades.
The challenge was clear: develop a holistic brand evolution that honored tradition, elevated community perception, and positioned United Landscapes for the next 35 years.
* THE APPROACH
- Brand Voice & Strategy
We began by redefining the brand’s voice. The goal was to strike a balance: confident and contemporary, but still approachable and rooted in community values. Every word, from web copy to form language, was designed to reflect both authority and accessibility.
- Visual Evolution
Rather than starting from scratch, we regenerated the logo — sharpening its lines, refreshing its balance, and creating a visual identity system that could scale across digital platforms, apparel, and marketing collateral. This was a modernization, not a reinvention, ensuring instant recognition while bringing clarity and polish.
- UI/UX Overhaul
The website became the cornerstone of the evolution. We completely restructured the user experience, simplifying navigation and enhancing accessibility. Every interaction was designed for clarity and ease, from browsing services to requesting an estimate. SEO improvements were built into the structure, ensuring the new experience would also perform.
- Operational Efficiency
Behind the scenes, we built custom estimate forms and a submission system to streamline both internal and client-facing workflows. This reduced recognition and submission times by nearly 56%, allowing United Landscapes to redirect energy toward what they do best: creating landscapes.
* THE DESIGN SOLUTION
Our execution blended strategy and design into a unified brand system:
- A refreshed logo and scalable visual identity.
- A redesigned website built around modern UI/UX principles.
- Fully integrated estimate and submission systems.
- A suite of collateral — from branded apparel to marketing assets — ensuring consistent application across all touchpoints.
The result was a cohesive brand presence that felt new without losing its roots.
* THE RESULTS
The impact was immediate and measurable:
- 37% increase in direct website traffic.
- 63% increase in new traffic.
- 22% increase in lead conversion rate.
- 47% decrease in bounce rate.
- 56% improvement in in-field productivity through new forms.
These numbers validated the strategy: the community responded to the refreshed brand, and internal teams gained tangible efficiencies.
* CLOSING REFLECTION
The United Landscapes project was about more than design. It was about respect — for the legacy of a company that had served its community for decades, and for the need to carry that story forward. By balancing tradition with modern strategy, we crafted a brand evolution that honors the past while opening doors to the future.
United Landscapes now stands with a digital and visual presence that matches its growth — grounded in history, but built for tomorrow.
